Compare monthly and annual costs
Annual billing is not automatically better. It only makes sense when you truly expect long-term use.
Annual billing being cheaper does not always make it better
Annual plans often have a lower effective monthly cost, but if you stop using the service after three months, that prepaid cost may still become waste.
Focus on three things when comparing plans
- How large the annual discount actually is
- Whether you really expect to keep using the service for at least a year
- Whether a lighter or cheaper plan already exists
Good cases for annual billing
- High-frequency usage
- Essential for work
- No obvious alternative
- A strong history of stable use
Cases where annual billing is risky
- You are still testing the service
- Your needs are unstable
- You only need it for a temporary project
