Quick Start
Set reminders before renewal
The goal is not more reminders. It is getting alerted while you still have time to decide.
Why reminders should happen before renewal
Many wasted charges happen not because the price is high, but because the user does not realize a renewal is about to happen.
When reminders arrive before the charge, you still have time to choose whether to:
- Keep the subscription
- Downgrade the plan
- Switch to annual billing or family sharing
- Cancel entirely
Suggested reminder timing
- Monthly subscriptions: 3 to 5 days in advance
- Annual subscriptions: 7 to 14 days in advance
- Free trials: at least 1 day before expiry
Two reminder mistakes to avoid
1. Sending everything on the same day
If all reminders arrive together, it becomes easy to miss the ones that matter most.
2. Reminding too late
If a reminder arrives right before the charge, you may have almost no room left to act.
A practical setup
Prioritize high-cost, high-frequency, and easy-to-forget subscriptions first. That usually gives the biggest return for the least effort.
